Australia is located in the Southern Hamisphere. Australia also encompasses , the island of Tasmania and many small islands in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Australias neighbours include East Timor, Indonesia, and in the north Papua New Guinea, in the northeast the Vanuatu ,Solomon Islands, and New Zealand and New Caledonia in the southeast.


The weather in Australia is effected by the ocean currents. Cyclones are common in the northern area of Australia, which encourage heavy rainfall. The northern territories are known for their tropical climate. The southwest however, has a Mediterranean weather conditions with the southeast having a very pleasant temperate climate.
