Europe is known to be the one of the most influential continents - responsible for the worlds cultural, and progressive organisation. Greece is thought to be the founder of democratic, and political activity going back thousands of years. Italy was the birthplace of the Roman empire, which is known of as being the first truly international empire. In fact, empires have been the historical nature of countries throughout Europe, with several taking their turn to occupy the rest of the worlds lands. Most recently we have had Great Britain forging the largest empire, which has now almost collapsed. As a result of the successful British colonisation of most of the world, we now have English as the primary worldwide language. The most horrific example of attempted world dominance was with Germany, which embarked on the most ambitious, and bloodiest projects to takeover the world. These were known as the two World wars.

The industrialisation of the world originates in Europe, predominately in Britain. This resulted in mass migrations to Europe from many regions around the world.

The empire building has resulted in border changes, as colonies have sought to expand in Europe, which even continues to this day. The result of thousands of years of human development, and culture is an abundance of historical sites, experiences, and places to visit.
