Turkey Villa Rentals
Villa Manzara is a detached villa with its own pool with spectacular views from all sides - the Bay of Kalkan from the front and the mountains and villages to the sides and rear. All bedrooms have balconies to take full advantage of the sea views so it is the perfect place to relax and drink in the scenery. All rooms are air-conditioned (doubling up as heaters in the winter) and there is a 6x4 metre pool again heated in the winter. Peaceful and with cooling breezes in summer, Villa Manzara is definitely the ideal place to wind down. A short drive by shuttle bus takes you into Kalkan where the restaurants, shops and quaint harbour await you, a magical place especially in the evening.
Kalkan Holiday Rentals
Notes on accommodation
There are three bedrooms all with fitted furniture providing plenty of space to accommodate your holiday clothes. The living room has a sofa bed which could accommodate additional guests. The rooms are light and airy and all have patio doors to balconies to enable you to take full advantage of the amazing views. The kitchen is fully equipped for a self catering holiday with crockery, pans, glasses and cutlery and there is also a restaurant a very short walk away for those who do not wish to cook!
Although set on a hillside, there is car access to the villa. Kalkan and its environs are hilly however and wheelchair users may experience some difficulty as may people with mobility problems.
The patio doors lead to a travertine pool area equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. The pool is 6x4 metres and 1.5 metres at the deepest point, with steps into the pool for ease of access - it is also heated in winter; there is a portable BBQ.
Kalkan is a small town, the old part of Greek origin and much resembling a Cornish village with streets winding down to a picturesque harbour. The streets are lined with sophisticated shops selling carpets, jewellery, glassware and ceramics and leather. It is however for its restaurants that Kalkan is well known, There are menus to suit all tastes and pockets in rooftop, harbour side and courtyard restaurants; chefs come to Kalkan from all over Turkey in the summer season. There are supermarkets and banks with cash machines and of course the local market with its 'genuine fakes' and delicious locally grown produce. In the daytime there are water sports available at the beach clubs reached by free water taxis, river canoeing and horse riding on Patara Beach for the energetic and boat tours for a more lazy day at sea - swimming in the coves of Kalkan Bay and a delicious lunch included on board.
Kalkan is also a perfect centre from which to explore the history of the region with archaeological sites dating back to 20 years BC which trace the rise and fall of various civilisations who settled here. Sites are accessible and atmospheric. It is the people however that make Kalkan a place to which holiday makers return year after year. They are friendly and welcoming and pride themselves on keeping Kalkan 'hassle free' - nothing is too much trouble for them and a warm welcome awaits you everywhere.
