Canada occupies a large part of northern North America, from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. Canada is the world's second largest country in total area. It shares a border with the United States to the south. The northwest border with America is the longest in the world.

Canada was populated for millennia by many groups of Aboriginal people. However in the 15th century, British and French expeditions were sent , and settled, along the Atlantic coast. The French settled in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War.Three British North Amercan Colonies were formed in 1867. Thus forming Four provinces. In 1982 the Canada Act finally severed ties with British Pariament.
